I should have written up this little blog post back at the beginning of June when it actually happened… So, here I am again trying to play catch-up with my website. It never ends.
So our stop-motion animated short film “Frowning” was entered in and accepted into the ASIFA Atlanta’s 9th Annual Roll Yer Own independent animation screening! While we may not have won, we totally got a lot of promotion and attention from the independent animation kind of crowd here in the ATL and got to enjoy some VERY awesome locally brewed coffee and cappuccinos.
For those of you who don’t know (like me, who had no clue what it was until I found out Frowning had been accepted), ASIFA is the Association Internationale du Film d’Animation. Here in the U.S. there’s the ASIFA-Atlanta, the ASIFA-Hollywood, the ASIFA-East (New York and the East Coast), the ASIFA-Colorado, and many many more.
I can’t remember exactly how many short films were accepted into the screening, but we watched approximately an hour and a half of animated shorts by filmmakers and artists from all around the Atlanta area (While drinking some of the best coffee I’ve ever had in my life! Seriously, they even had traditional macchiatos there, none of that Starbucks junk…).
So who wants to know what the most recent screening is that Frowning got accepted into? Just found out today– Dragon*Con!!! Are we totally, completely awesome or what?
I don’t really have any other info about being accepted to Dragon*Con other than it’s sometime this coming September, and last year was my first year there, basking in all the geeky fanboy and fangirl total AWESOMENESS.
I’ll keep everyone updated as soon as I find out more. YAY!
